FBA delivered more than 2bn items worldwide for Amazon sellers in 2016

Amazon has announced that the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service delivered more than 2bn items for Marketplace sellers worldwide in 2016. “2016 was a record-breaking year in sales worldwide for sellers on Amazon,” commented Peter Faricy, VP for Amazon Marketplace.”

Amazon added that FBA items shipped worldwide grew more than 50% year-on-year during the holiday season. In other 2016 highlights, the number active sellers worldwide using the FBA service grew more than 70%; and, outside the US, FBA units shipped grew more than 80%.

Amazon has also confirmed that it plans to open a second fulfilment centre in Jacksonville, Florida.

“Six months after announcing a major fulfilment centre in Jacksonville, Amazon is again choosing Jacksonville as the site of another facility that will create an additional 1,000 new jobs, bringing the company’s announced footprint in Jacksonville to 2,500 jobs,” said Aaron Bowman, senior vice president of JAXUSA Partnership.
