Posta Uganda plans door to door mail delivery

Posta Uganda is finally going to start door to door delivery of mail General Manager David Kitongo revealed Friday in an interview with Sunday Monitor.

Kitonga said they have already started mapping areas where the mail would be delivered.

He said that they would use the local councils to deliver mails to customers in their locations. Local councils involved in the distribution will be paid for their co-operation in the delivery of ordinary mail.

Posta Uganda will instal mailboxes in strategic locations throughout the country.

Managing Director Posta Uganda Tom Peter Kiwewa had told journalist at a press conference that mail theft has been brought under control.

“This is now a thing of the past at Posta Uganda,” he said.

Kiwewa said that the security in the handling and letters sorting section had been boosted with the installation of closed circuit television to monitor staff.

He said that most of the services have also been automated to improve quality of services.
