Yamato offering 3D printing service
Japanese logistics and delivery company Yamato is reportedly installing 3D printing facilities at a Tokyo fulfilment centre which it will use to produce customised medical products. According to a report published today (27 January) by the Nikkei Asian Review, the 3D printing facility will be able to produce and deliver the products to medical institutions in about three days – compared to the typical seven to ten day lead time required by traditional specialty manufacturers.
The report added that Yamato plans to expand the 3D printing service to other types of goods in the future.
