Mitsui-Soko and Japan Postal Agency tie-up for parcel delivery

Mitsui-Soko Co. said Wednesday it has agreed with the Postal Services Agency to combine their respective warehousing and small-parcel delivery services.

The tie-up will enable companies to outsource whole “business to consumer” services including the acceptance of orders by telephone, warehousing, home delivery of merchandise to buyers, and the collection of payments, the warehousing company said.

The combined service is expected to arouse demand from mail-order houses, product distributors and manufacturers.

With the service starting this month, sales are projected at 300 million yen for the first year, rising to 1 billion yen in three years.

As Mitsui-Soko and the postal agency will combine their computer system for the joint service, client companies can check all information, ranging from orders to the collection of payments, on the Internet.
