Delivery Confirmation for Royal Mail 1st Class and 2nd Class parcels

Delivery Confirmation is now available on Royal Mail 1st & 2nd Class Small and Medium parcels, where postage has been purchased online. In a notice posted on its website, Royal Mail said that “information will be available online at the point we try to or successfully deliver your item”.

However, it advised customers that “Delivery Confirmation is not intended to be a fully tracked service” – and also suggested that if they “want to see items progressing throughout their journey – and not just at the point of delivery” they should consider using Special Delivery Guaranteed.

Royal Mail added that Delivery Confirmation is not available for large letters, and it is also not available for parcels being sent to the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man.

eBay informed its UK-based sellers about the delivery confirmation details in a notice posted on its general announcements board yesterday (8 February) – and it also offer its sellers the following advice: “If you use the eBay label platform , eBay will automatically upload the delivery confirmation number into your My eBay. Sellers can also upload the delivery confirmation number to their sold items in My eBay. This is particularly important as we will start to use this as proof of delivery for Seller protection cases.”
