Posti to build new terminal in Vantaa
Finland’s Posti is set to start building a new terminal in Viinikkala, Vantaa. The new building will cover an area of 26,000 square metres. Preparatory work on the project is starting now and the actual construction will begin in March.
The new terminal is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.
Located in YIT’s K3 Logistics area between Ring Road III and Helsinki Airport, the new terminal will replace Posti’s terminals in Veturitie, Helsinki, Virkatie, Vantaa and Huurrekuja, Tuusula.
The new facility will “meet the growing needs arising from higher freight volumes”, said Jaakko Kaidesoja, Head of Posti’s Transport Services.
With the new terminal, Posti is seeking to centralize its operations.
The new terminal will be located near Posti’s logistics centre and service warehouses in Vantaa and will help Posti to direct heavy traffic away from the city centre. Furthermore, Ring Road III offers better connections to Vuosaari Harbour, which is an important channel for incoming goods to Posti’s transport network.
