CMC rolls out new CMC CartonPack
CMC srl has released the next phase of its range of on-demand box making and packing equipment for e-commerce fulfilment. CMC CartonPack was officially unveiled during the company’s annual open house in Città di Castello, Italy on 11 May.
This machine enhances the CMC on demand packaging machine series, which began in 2013 with CMC Cartonwrap.
The CMC CartonPack allows for packing single and multiple items into the one box produced for that order.
The heart of the system is the Vary-Tote, a CMC designed and patented transport tote that features two inner adjustable guides which are used to compact the picked items to the minimum possible volume.
The Vary Totes move on a carousel which brings full totes to the machine induct section, and once empty conveys the totes to the picking area for refilling.
Thanks to the unique VaryTote design, the operator can adapt the inner guides to each individual consignment.
The VaryTote is particularly well-suited for collecting and packing multiple regular or irregular shaped items within a size range.
A 3D Scanner placed in the CMC VaryTote induct area reads the 3 dimensions of the order set by the adjustable guides.
Boxes will be formed based on those dimensions and then filled and labelled for delivery automatically.
The benefits of the system include:
- Complete automation from picking to consolidation area
- Correct size box for each order, single and multi line.
- Reduced shipping volumes.
- Labour savings
- No need for additional expensive void fill.
- No need to warehouse many different sizes of premade boxes.
- Increased packaging productivity.
- Integrated CMC Packvertizing patented technology to personalise with full colour printing each box with unique branding and targeted marketing messages.
CMC CartonPack has already been sold to two European e-commerce companies and will be deployed to support the upcoming Christmas peak.
CMC said that it will continue to expand its product portfolio for e-fulfilment and anticipated additional product launches by the end of 2017.
The company will showcase their CartonPack machine during the next Open Day in their Italy headquarters on 20 July 2017.
