Posten Sweden announces new chairman and new CEO
Posten, Sweden’s national postal service, today announced that Marianne Nivert has been named the new chairman of Posten. Effective May 1, 2003, Erik Olsson is the new President and CEO of Posten.
Claes Ånstrand will step down as chairman of Posten at the Annual General Meeting on April 25, 2003. The Annual General Meeting will appoint Telia’s former CEO, Marianne Nivert, as the company’s new chairman. Ms. Nivert joined Posten’s board in December 2002.
Erik Olsson will begin his tenure as president and CEO of Posten on May 1, 2003. He brings experience from the retail industry, including positions as president of Dagab and CEO of Coop Sweden.
Börge Österholm, who was appointed president and CEO in November 2002, will leave his position.
“As State Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Employment and Communications, I will be focusing on overall ownership issues for state-owned companies. With Marianne Nivert’s acceptance of this post, we will benefit from a chairman with genuine experience, and the ability to dedicate more time to Posten than I would be able to. The combination of Marianne Nivert as chairman and Erik Olsson as CEO is an excellent solution for Posten,” said Claes Ånstrand.
“Posten is a very exciting and important company, and I am delighted to assume the post of chairman. I am, of course, pleased that Erik Olsson is taking up the position of president and CEO, and I look forward to working together with him,” said Marianne Nivert.
“The challenge for me and for Posten’s 40,000 employees will be to boost confidence in Posten’s ability to combine its public service role with providing good service to our customers with good profitability. Posten must be a competitive, attractive and profitable company,” said Erik Olsson.
