Parcel carriers restoring services to parts of Texas

As the US continues with the recovery operations in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, postal carriers are working to restore delivery services in the affected areas. UPS and FedEx resumed flights to Houston’s main airport yesterday (31 August). A spokesperson for UPS told Post&Parcel today that the carrier has “restored services in Austin, Texas, and a portion of Corpus Christi and will continue to serve the remaining communities as it is safe to do so”.

One of the problems that the carriers have to contend with is that many Texans evacuated their homes because of the flooding and they may not have returned yet. So even if the carriers’ trucks can get through to their destinations, the intended recipients may not be there to accept the deliveries.
