German union Ver.di voices concerns over reports of Deutsche Post’s letter delivery tests

The German trade union Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (ver.di) has voiced its concern over reports that Deutsche Post is testing the feasibility of delivering mail more infrequently. In a statement issued on Sunday (3 September), ver.di said that it was responding to media reports that Deutsche Post was testing the idea of offering customers the option of receving their mail five, three or even one day a week.

Ver.di argued that experience from other European countries suggested that a reduction in the number of deliveries per week made postal services more unattractive.
