Mark Pell takes the reins of TNT/SAB Express in Saudi Arabia

TNT/SAB Express, the leading global express company, has telegraphed major change for Saudi Arabia with the appointment of high-profile executive Mark Pell as Country Manager for the Kingdom.

“Saudi Arabia is an economic powerhouse and a strategic market for us,” says Pell, who is already TNT General Manager for other GCC countries.

“TNT/SAB Express was keen to link the Kingdom with the rest of the Gulf from a management point of view. It’s all part of ensuring we achieve common objectives across the region.”

This is 25-year industry veteran Pell’s first foray into the freight forwarding market in the Kingdom. His appointment is seen as great encouragement to staff and customers as well as an illustration of TNT’/SAB Express’s commitment to the vast Saudi Arabian market.

“Over 30 per cent of the freight we move into Saudi Arabia comes from the GCC. My appointment is part of streamlining our operation in the GCC, bringing it under one umbrella,” says Pell.

Pell boasts senior management roles with TNT in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. He has presided over several years’ record growth in the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain.

Briton Pell says his expanded brief will herald “new services, new products and greater choice” for customers in the Kingdom.

“TNT is thriving in other Middle East countries and now there’s an expansion of the portfolio in Saudi Arabia. The essence of our work will remain the same, but we have some exciting things coming up including services never seen in the Kingdom.”

Pell revealed that a ground-breaking service for TNT/SAB Express customers in Saudi Arabia would be announced within weeks.

“TNT/SAB Express’ mission is to boost value for our customers wherever we can. We are in a position to expand our level of service in Saudi Arabia. We’re the world’s leading B2B company so we’ll certainly continue to broaden the boundaries for our customers in Saudi Arabia.”

TNT/SAB Express has already moved its Saudi Arabian headquarters into new state-of-the-art premises in Jeddah while the company’s Riyadh and Dhahran offices have undergone major refurbishment.

“Dhahran is the main TNT gateway to the Kingdom so we’re stepping up activities there in a big way. Jeddah, as our long-time base is pivotal to our activities and Riyadh assumes great importance as the diplomatic capital.”
