
ASTAR Air Cargo names Blanchard and Godly to accounting and finance positions
Following up on the recent management re-organization of the company upon John Dasburg’s arrival as Chairman and CEO, Phil Wegescheide, Vice President Finance and Controller, announced that he has hired Bob Blanchard as Director Maintenance Accounting and Accounts Payable and Martin Godly, Director Financial Planning and Analysis. Mr. Blanchard will be responsible for aircraft maintenance accounting, other fixed assets, accounts payable, and payroll. Mr. Godly will assume responsibilities for budgeting, planning, analysis and capital expenditure planning. The appointments will be effective June 9 with Mr. Blanchard’s relocation to ASTAR’s Cincinnati office and Mr. Godly to ASTAR’s newly relocated headquarters in Miami, Florida.
“Bob and Martin are excellent additions to our finance and accounting teams. They will help us to continue to move forward rapidly in a disciplined financial manner as the company continues to grow and expand”, according to Mr. Wegescheide. “Their broad and diverse aviation backgrounds will provide us with improved capabilities to better manage financial and accounting issues for our company.” Additionally, Mr. Wegescheide noted that Stephen Dodd and Rob Miller have accepted positions as financial analysts supporting Mr. Godly. Stephen and Rob recently graduated from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business with Master of Business Administration degrees.
Bob Blanchard’s airline experience includes serving as General Accounting Director and Assistant Controller for National Airlines, Inc. and as Fixed Assets and Inventory Manager for America West Airlines, Inc. Bob has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Arizona State University and will be relocating from Henderson, Nevada.
Martin Godly is currently President and founder of Aviation Business Sciences. His prior career history includes serving as Vice President, Proudfoot Air and Transport Group, Inc., Director of SH & E consulting on aviation technical and business issues at airlines and aerospace firms and Manager – Airline Analysis for Short Brothers, USA. Mr. Godly holds an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University, a Master of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University. Mr. Godly will be relocating from Little Silver, New Jersey.
