Lynx makes a night of it at Coventry
The UK’s largest independent parcels carrier Lynx Express is extending its international capability with a 2,000sq metre facility at Coventry airport.
The development allows Lynx to move its night delivery operation, Partsflow operations.
International director Nick Basford expected to cut between 30 and 45 minutes from handling times on the time-critical service, allowing a longer window for sorting and delivery and later cut-off times for some fights.
“We are experiencing rapid growth in demand for deliveries for all our services, but those connected to our air freight operations are up-scaling particularly quickly,” he said.
“Two years ago, 90% of the business on the night-time delivery was UK domestic, whereas now 60% is international.”
Partsflow focuses on the express transportation of equipment parts for industries such as IT, agriculture and medicine, and last year won a major contract with agricultural machinery manufacturer John Deere.
More than 100 staff will transfer from Lynx’s main Nuneaton hub to the Coventry facility, including all Partsflow operations staff.
