GATS opens first hub in the Caribbean

GATS (Global Alliance of Transportation Systems) is pleased to announce its first business agreement to open and operate an airmail hub in co-operation with the Postal Corporation of Jamaica. Kingston, Jamaica, is strategically located to serve the entire Caribbean region, Central America and countries in the northern part of South America. GATS and the Postal Corporation of Jamaica will thus be in a position to provide national postal administrations around the world with an effective and efficient network, as well as advantageous mailing solutions.

In conjunction with the Postal Corporation of Jamaica (PostCorp), GATS (Global Alliance of Transportation Systems) is opening its inaugural hub in Kingston, Jamaica. The Agreement was signed in Kingston today by PostCorp’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Blossom O’Meally-Nelson, and Managing Director of GATS, Mr. Geoff Formstone, in the presence of The Minster of Commerce, The Rt. Hon. Mr. Philip Paulwell, and the Chairman of PostCorp, Mr. Lance Hylton. Speaking at the Agreement Ceremony, Mr. Formstone commented that, “GATS is delighted to have signed a partnership agreement with the Postal Corporation of Jamaica, which we believe will significantly change the way mail is transported to and from the Caribbean”.
Kingston, Jamaica, is strategically located to serve the entire Caribbean region, Central America and countries in the northern part of South America. GATS will enhance its current network by offering national postal administrations around the world an effective and efficient mail aggregation and transfer network into and out of the Caribbean and Central American regions.
After recent successful pilot trials, the Kingston hub will be fully operational from September 2003. PostCorp and GATS are providing all their postal partners with an innovative software system to electronically track and trace mailbags within a web-based environment. Postal partners can track their individual bags on a password-protected internet site at www.gatsonline.ws. Under the agreement GATS will also support PostCorp with regional sales and marketing activities.

Expansion of Existing Network
GATS’ is extending its global network, which will be enhanced by the opening of additional hubs in the second half of the year, in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. This expansion programme will enable postal organizations throughout the world to benefit from high-quality, cost-effective international mail transportation.
