Baltimore Unicert to provide trusted infrastructure for Czech Post
Baltimore and Partner ICZ team to Provide Certificate Services for Czech Post Baltimore Technologies (London: BLM), a global leader in e-security, in association with TrustedWorld(tm) partner ICZ, today announced that Ceska Posta, the Czech Post, has deployed Baltimore UniCERT(tm) to secure the new trust services which will be delivered by PostSignum, the Czech Post’s recently established Commercial Certificate Authority (CA). Using Baltimore UniCERT, PostSignum will issue digital certificates to authenticate the online identity of users, to ensure the integrity of data transmitted over the Internet and the non-repudiation of electronic messages and transactions for businesses and citizens.
Registered Electronic Post is the first trust service to be launched. It is a new secure and traceable message delivery service enabling registered senders and recipients to digitally sign and encrypt messages exchanged. This will ensure that all messages can be traced from the time they are sent to the point of delivery.
Commenting on the project Iva Steinerova, Director of Strategy Planning at the Czech Post said, “PostSignum introduces a new quality and level of service to the Czech postal system and ensures that we remain a modern and above all flexible service provider. Baltimore’s PKI technology has enabled us to establish a new range of trusted certificate services for Czech businesses and consumers quickly and efficiently.”
“The Czech Post is a long term Baltimore customer and this new project confirms the synergy between our companies,” said Patrick Jourdas, Senior Vice President EMEA Operations of Baltimore Technologies. “Czech Post has demonstrated their clear vision of the future of both electronic postal services and electronic transactions and also has the expertise to successfully deploy Baltimore’s PKI technology. ICZ’s experience in IT security and application development was key to the successful deployment of the project.”
Both PostSignum and the new Registered Electronic Post service are live and work is ongoing both to continue adding new features and to expand these services.
