UPS achieves fastest growth in China among Asian markets
Recently, UPS published its financial report of the second quarter of 2003. The statistics show that the performance of UPS in Chinese market increased by 45% over that in the same period of 2002, exceeding an average growth rate of 15% in whole Asia. (8/13/2003)
It is the first financial report issued since UPS’ Chinese headquarters relocating from Hong Kong to Shanghai. Astonishingly, the financial situation of all the business departments of UPS keeps an upward trend although economy in many regions is stagnant.
In March 2001, a Boeing 747-200 plane with UPS logo landed in Beijing Capital International Airport, which indicated that US cargo planes were permitted to fly to China directly. Chinese market brought a fortune to UPS. A spokesman with UPS China said the dividend in the second quarter of 2003 increased from USD 0.54 to USD 0.61 per share, up by 13%. And earnings of international businesses increased by 150%.
UPS is confident of Chinese market, especially the move of headquarters of China Branch strengthens the business operation between Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, and Mainland China.
