Amazon reportedly looking to shift Prime Pantry to subscription model

Amazon is looking to shift its Prime Pantry service – which provides deliveries for non-perishable household goods – to a subscription model, according to reports published by Bloomberg and other media.

At the moment, Amazon Prime members in the US (who have paid their Prime subscription) pay a delivery charge of $6 a box for their Pantry orders.

According to the Bloomberg report, Amazon plans to encourage Prime members to pay an extra $5 a month charge which will entitle them to free delivery on Pantry orders worth over $40. And Prime members who don’t want to pay that $5 monthly charge will still be able to use the Pantry service, but pay a delivery charge of $8 a box.
