Malaysia’s Dahmakan buys Bangkok food delivery company

Malaysian food delivery company startup Dahmakan has bought the Bangkok-based operator Polpa.

Both companies are “integrated” food delivery players: they prepare food in their own kitchens, rather than using restaurant partners; they power the food delivery online platform and app; and they organize the deliveries.

According to local reports, Dahmakan will integrate its logistics technology, including an AI-driven delivery routing system and order prediction tool, with Polpa’s platform in the coming weeks.

Jessica Li, co-founder of Dahmakan, told DealStreetAsia that Polpa has been integrated into the dahmakan brand following the acquisition.

Li added: “This will be the first of our three city expansion in Southeast Asia in 2018, with Jakarta and Hong Kong slated for Q3 and Q4.”
