Top award goes to Deutsche Post boss Zumwinkel

Germany’s Federal Minister of Economics, Wolfgang Clement, presents Heinrich-von-Stephan medal to Chairman of Deutsche Post World Net’s Board of Management, Dr Klaus Zumwinkel.

Zumwinkel accepted the award on Wednesday evening in front of 1,500 invited guests in Berlin. He was given the medal “in honour of his great service to the development of postal services in Germany”. Thanks to Zumwinkel’s work as Chairman of the Board of Management over the last thirteen years, Deutsche Post has been transformed from a deficit-ridden national authority into one of the world’s most successful logistics groups.

The medal was established in 1952 in commemoration of the German postal reformer and co-founder of the Universal Postal Union, Heinrich von Stephan. The Federal Minister of Economics presents it in honour of figures of outstanding merit from the spheres of science and research, business and postal and telecommunication services.
