DPWN and TPG to bid for Hays DX Mail

The bidding process for Hays UK postal business, DX Mail, has got underway generating a large amount of interest from trade and financial buyers. It is believed that DPWN and Dutch postal operator TPG are amongst the front runners to buy the business unit which would give them a foot hold in the liberalising UK market.

The disposal of DX mail is part of Hays’ strategy to focus on its high margin recruitment business. This process saw its logistics division sold last month for £102m (€150m) to a US investment group, Platinum Equity.

It is believed that there will be strong competition to buy DX Mail. The company has recently been awarded a seven year licence to deliver business to business mail throughout the UK and is able to offer guaranteed before 8am delivery options. Presently it carries one million items a day and has 30,000 customers. In the UK the company has a turnover of £127.6m (€186m).
