Royal Mail fails to deliver says watchdog

The Royal Mail was accused of failing to deliver yesterday after new figures revealed

that millions of letters and other vital redirected post goes missing each year.

It is estimated that 7.5 million letters which people pay to have redirected when they move house or business never get delivered.

Which? magazine, published by the Consumers’ Association, discovered that 3% of the letters sent by 1.4 million people who pay to have post redirected never get to their destination.

Royal Mail, expected to make (pounds) 100m in profits this year, said in a statement: “As the Which? report states, most letters did arrive quickly.

“However, the number which failed to arrive on time is

unacceptable. We will be working hard to improve service

levels.”
