Swiss Post to privatise ExpressPost

The Swiss Post Office has announced that it will privatise its ExpressPost division on January 1, 2004. The yellow giant found an agreement with the trade unions to negotiate a collective agreement. The transfer of the personnel in the new structure is scheduled for January 1, 2005. The Post office will have to negotiate with the trade union a new collective agreement (CTT) for this company.

The yellow giant recently signed a convention with the UNI affiliate, Syndicat de la communication (SC), bearing on the opening of negotiations relating to a CCT. The Syndicat de la communication, said that the privatisation of the ExpressPost part of the business remains a bad decision and that the agreement should not constitute a precedent. During the negotiations, Syndicat de la communication however succeeded in obtaining substantial improvements on significant points of the agreement. The transformation of ExpressPost division into autonomous limited company will make it possible to reinforce its competitiveness and to ensure some 370 jobs are safe in the long run.
