The Salvatori Group invests in £3m Sittingbourne hub operation

Kent-based logistics provider The Salvatori Group has established a new operation in Sittingbourne following a £3 million investment.

The Salvatori Group employs 150 people across its Aylesham, Calais and now Sittingbourne sites and has been a regional member of the Palletways network since March 2015. P

The site amalgamates Salvatori’s Palletways business in Aylesham and Medway into a single, central 24 hour a day, six day a week operation. Facilities include 1500 square metres of racked storage and 1800 pallet spaces as well as internal and external ambient storage space. Salvatori has recruited 45 drivers and 18 warehouse and office staff, now based at Sittingbourne, as part of the new venture.

Daniel Salvatori, Group CEO, said: “This is a significant investment for the Salvatori Group which will create fantastic new opportunities for us. The facilities and storage space will help to focus our Palletways operation and improve the speed and delivery of our services to our customers and partners within the network.”

Rob Gittins, Palletways UK managing director, added: “Salvatori makes a significant contribution to the strength of Palletways. We’re confident the new Sittingbourne premises, dedicated to its Palletways business, will enable them to become more successful within our network.”

As a South East of England Palletways member, Salvatori handles up to 1200 pallets inbound and outbound in and around the Canterbury and Ashford areas each day. The network supports its continued growth and strengthens its market-leading position across Aylesham, Sittingbourne and Calais.  Outside of the Palletways network, Salvatori provides temperature controlled storage, palletised storage, heavy haulage on flat trailers and tautliners, freight forwarding, commercial workshop and fruit merchanting and fruit crate sales.
