Russian Post’s 2003 turnover Eur 1Bn, up 35 percent

The total turnover of the state-owned Russian Post company amounted to the ruble equivalent 1 billion euros in 2003, up about 35% on the year, Alexandr Kiselyov, Acting First Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and IT told a press conference Tuesday.

The company’s share of the postal services market is approaching 99%.

According to Kiselyov, the turnover of telecommunication services rose 42.4% on the year, while the information technologies (IT) market increased 20.3% on the year. No comparative figures were provided.

In 2003, investments in the development of communication and IT services rose to 78 billion rubles from 52 billion rubles in 2002.
