India Post launches services to woo corporate clients

The postal department has launched business post and bulk mailing services for corporates in various cities of the state.

The department’s business post mass mailing centre is providing professional services to corporates, giving a tough competition to private courier agencies.

The centre provides collection, packaging, franking, special handling and cutting and pasting of address slip for corporates and organisations that despatch a large number of letters and other articles.

These services are provided at nominal charges, in addition to the postage.

For customers sending a considerable volume of articles or providing business worth more than Rs 5,000, the department provides daily services and monthly billing.

The customer should make the payment in advance with the postmaster of the concerned post office and the monthly bills would be adjusted against this.

“The Navrangpura post office is the largest in Gujarat in terms of business post and bulk mailing services.

“The post office transacts business of around Rs one crore per month,” said D M Bhavsar, assistant manager, business post, mass mailing centre, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad.

In Gujarat, business post and bulk mail services are offered in Ahmedabad, Surat and Rajkot.

The services are used by telecom companies including Reliance for their billing services, leading insurance companies, banks and financial institutions, stock broking firms and various corporates.

“The services offered by the department are cheaper and more reliable,” Bhavsar said.
