Italy’s Elsag to build mail-sorting center in Moscow Region

Russia’s state-owned Russian Post company has signed a contract with Italy’s Elsag to build the first automated mail-sorting center in the Moscow Region, Russian Post’s General Director Igor Syrtsov said Thursday.

The construction of the center would be funded by loans, he said.

The Italian branch of Commerzbank would provide a loan of an unspecified amount to build the center, he said, adding that the loan would be guaranteed by Italy’s Sach insurance company.

The center would be able to sort up to 3 million items of mail daily and would service the city of Moscow and the Chukotka Autonomous District, as well as the Moscow, Tver, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Ryazan, Tula, Vladimir, and Kaluga Regions.

The construction is expected to take 20 months and would be built turnkey. End
