Belgian postal workers stage 24-hour strike

Belgian postal workers staged a 24-hour strike Wednesday, protesting understaffing and job security.

Workers started their strike late Tuesday, shutting down sorting centers across the country, ensuring no mail delivery.

Unions are angry after their employer, “De Post-La Poste” retracted a decision to cut working hours from 38 to 36, without hiring additional staff. The unions now want compensation for the retraction, including more holidays.

Workers are expected to return to work late Wednesday.
