Member invests as TPN grows

Hull haulier Newland Express Transport has bought a double-deck trailer following a 20% growth in its pallet business.
A founder member of The Pallet Network (TPN) in 2000, Newland is now transporting 500-plus pallets a week to the TPN hub in Rugby. Major clients include British Aerospace and Smith & Nephew.

TPN saw turnover grow 28% to £20m ( t35m) in the year to March, matched precisely by a 28% increase in pre-tax profit to £800,000 ( t1.2m).

Richard Eldred, TPN chairman, said 26% growth in average throughput to 3,375 pallets per night justified the network’s decision to relocate to its new 22,000sq metre hub near Rugby this year, representing an investment of around £6m ( t9m) over five years.
