Belgian Post not to close offices

Belgian postal services company De Post/La Poste will not close post offices in the second half of 2006, the company’s CEO, Johnny Thijs, said on May 4, 2006.

De Post/La Poste customers should be first acquainted with PostPunten sales counters prior to the closing of the post offices, Thijs added.

(Editor’s note: De Post/La Poste will close 45 post offices by June 2006, Belgian French-language La Derniere Heure daily reported on February 21, 2006.

A total 23 post offices will be replaced by PostPunten sales counters.

According to the new management contract of De Post/La Poste, 100 post offices are expected to be closed in 2006.)
