Posti finds a solution to mail delivery in the Sipoo archipelago

Finland’s Posti has announced that letters, cards, newspapers and magazines, advertisements and small parcels that fit in the mailbox will be now delivered in the Sipoo archipelago three times a week; on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Posti said that, from today (1 June), the deliveries are now being handled by a new operator so mail will be delivered three days a week to all the dock areas of the islands, “including those which the larger ferry that handled the deliveries in May was not able to reach”.

The delivery route covers Simsalö, Norrkullalandet, Björkholmen, Opanholmen, Stora Svedjeholmen, Sandholmen, Röysö, Bergarholmen, Skutholmen, Komsalö and Söderkullalandet.

Petteri Vankka, Head of Area at Posti, commented: “We would like to thank the residents of the archipelago for their feedback and comments on organizing postal deliveries in the archipelago of Sipoo. Mail can now be delivered in the archipelago more than once a week, and the archipelago will have the same three-day delivery frequency as the mainland.

“We are very sorry for the previous problems in the deliveries to the Sipoo archipelago and for the fact that it took us several weeks to find a solution. We fully understand that this change may have caused inconvenience to residents. We hope that this new three-day delivery frequency will meet our customers’ needs.”
