Cypriot authorities introducing new rules on midday food deliveries by bike in response to the record high temperatures

With the people of Cyprus sweltering under a heatwave since mid-July, the Labour Minister Yiannis Panayiotou has announced new restrictions on midday food deliveries as a precautionary health and safety measure.

According to local media, the new rules will mean that food deliveries made using motorcycles, bicycles and scooters will be prohibited between 12 noon and 4 pm on days for which the Met Office has issued an orange or red warning.

In addition, car drivers making food deliveries have been instructed to park their vehicles in the shade when the temperatures reach extreme highs.
