Swiss Post looking to buy Quickmail and Quickpac
Swiss Post has announced that it intends to acquire the two Swiss logistics companies Quickmail and Quickpac.
In a statement issued yesterday (27 July), Swiss Post said that. ‘due to the continuing decline in letter volumes and intense competition in the parcel market, the two companies can no longer exist independently’, and they were therefore ‘actively looking for buyers’.
Swiss Post said that it is planning to complete the takeover ‘as soon as possible’, but it must first be approved by the Competition Commission (COMCO).
Johannes Cramer, Head of Logistics Services at Swiss Post, commented: “A large proportion of Quickmail’s and Quickpac’s customers are also our customers, Swiss Post’s. If we take over the two companies Quickmail and Quickpac, we will be able to guarantee stability for these customers and ensure the continuation of services.”
Cramer added: “Quickpac delivers the parcels exclusively with electrically powered delivery vehicles. This fits perfectly into our ambitious sustainability strategy at Swiss Post.”
Quickmail Holding AG consists of the core companies Quickmail AG and Quickpac AG. The two companies employ around 3,500 people. Quickmail delivers addressed letters, mailings, catalogues over 2009 grams and magazines. In June 2019, the product range was expanded to include parcel delivery with the launch of Quickpac. Quickpac relies on electric cars for the delivery of parcels across the board.
