JD.com’s autonomous delivery vehicles transported 5.53 million parcels during “Grand Promotion”

JD.com’s advanced logistics and delivery infrastructure played a central role in this year’s 618 Grand Promotion, handling millions of orders through a growing network of automation technologies and delivery services.

During the shopping festival, JINGDONG Logistics’ LangzuTech automated warehousing solution processed 34 million orders, while autonomous delivery vehicles transported a cumulative 5.53 million parcels, highlighting the increasing role of intelligent logistics in supporting large-scale e-commerce operations.

The delivery network also helped meet rising demand for installation and after-sales services. Orders for home appliances and home living products supported by JD.com’s integrated delivery and installation services increased by more than 120% year on year. Orders for the delivery and installation of electric vehicle charging stations rose by 80%, while orders for doorstep repair services for two-wheelers, including electric bicycles and motorcycles, increased 800%.

JD.com’s cross-border and international delivery capabilities also expanded during the promotion. Both user numbers and transaction volume on JD Global Sales more than doubled year on year. The platform introduced direct shipping for large home appliances and furniture to Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand, together with shipping incentives. Sales in the relevant categories increased by more than sixfold year on year.

The company’s logistics operations were further supported by artificial intelligence, which JD.com has integrated across more than 3,000 business scenarios spanning retail, logistics, healthcare, industrial services, food delivery and home services.

The strong delivery performance came amid broader growth across the 618 campaign. As of 11:59 p.m. on June 18, the number of major brand new product launches increased by more than 500% year on year, while the number of new small and medium-sized merchants participating in the promotion rose by more than 62%. More than 3,000 merchants taking part in 618 for the first time surpassed RMB 1 million in transaction volume.

The results underscore how JD.com’s investment in automated warehousing, autonomous delivery vehicles and integrated fulfilment services is enabling the company to handle growing order volumes while expanding delivery and installation services for consumers both in China and overseas.
