Posten Bring’s new terminal to handle “increasing import volumes”

Today, Posten Bring has officially opened its new and modern logistics center in Moss. The terminal is the group’s largest parcel terminal measured in sorting capacity, and will give Posten Bring the capacity to handle further growth in the parcel market.

“Growth in online shopping results in increased parcel volumes. This is therefore one of the most important investments we have made in many years. The terminal in Moss will handle increasing import volumes and give us the capacity we need for further parcel growth. The facility allows us to grow with good quality while at the same time giving us increased competitiveness,” says Executive Vice President Hans-Øyvind Ryen at Posten Bring.

The new logistics center has 33,000 square meters of floor space including the mezzanine. The sorting facility can handle over 500,000 packages per day, making the Moss terminal the group’s largest parcel terminal in terms of sorting capacity.

Will handle increasing import volumes

The terminal is located five minutes from the E6, centrally located between Svinesund and Oslo. It will mainly handle import volumes from Sweden and Denmark, in addition to local packages from Østfold. During heavy volume peaks, such as during Black Friday and Christmas, the terminal will also relieve Posten Bring’s Logistics Center Oslo, the country’s main terminal for parcel sorting.

“We have built a facility with significant capacity, and will gradually move larger package volumes to Moss as we scale up operations. This gives us a good starting point to meet the growth we expect in the years to come,” says Ryen.

The heart of the terminal is the new sorting machine, with a one kilometer long conveyor belt.

200 man-years in the terminal

Nearly 200 man-years are associated with the terminal, which is now officially in operation.

– It is a great and very good teamwork that has been put in to get the terminal operational. Going forward, we will gradually build up production, and we have a lot of capacity to grow into. This gives us a very good starting point as we prepare for this year’s peak season, says Lars Espen Veder, terminal manager in Moss.

The new facility also places emphasis on sustainable energy solutions. The Moss Logistics Center is BREEAM certified and is well-equipped for electric vehicles with its own charging facilities.

10,000 m² of solar panels have also been installed on the roof, which can produce enough clean energy to allow the terminal to be self-sufficient in electricity for long periods.
