La Poste outsources all of its motorised fleet to BNP Paribas
La Poste, the French post office, has decided to sell its motorised vehicles
to BNP Paribas, the French bank. The contract involves 47,400 cars, 12,000
motorbikes and motorised bicycles and 800 trucks. La Poste’s 30,000 bicycles
are not part of the deal, since postmen will continue to maintain them
directly, with specific compensation for this.
BNP Paribas was chosen after a call to tender in which 11 banks competed.
The bank will be buying La Poste’s fleet of vehicles, and then lease them
back to La Poste. As for fleet managers, La Poste has chosen TEMsys (100 per
cent subsidiary of Societe Generale), Overlease (subsidiary of Renault
Credit Internationale) and Hertz Lease for the cars, motorbikes and
motorised bicycles. Fraikin has been chosen for the trucks.
