Finnish MPs express concern over postal services

There are reportedly concerns about the postal services in Finland among many MPs.

Despite the parliament’s plans to reinforce some of the issues in
the law proposal from the government, there is still concern about
the future of the services and one source of disagreement is whether
the law should demand a post office in all municipalities or if a
postal outlet is enough. Olli-Pekka Heinonen, the minister of
transport and communications, has pointed out that the quality of
the service should be the main issue.

Another issue that was brought up was the compensation paid to those
who run the postal outlets. The compensation has been described as
‘modest’ and it was asked what happens if no-one wants to take on
the responsibility due to the low pay.
