Socma criticises new regulatory framework and calls for changes in the post office concession

Socma SA, the holding group which runs Correo Argentino, the Argentinian
privatised post office is understood to have presented a document to the
Argentinian authorities criticising the new regulatory framework which the
government has drawn up for the sector. The criticisms include the lack of
respect for the rights and obligations laid down in the concession to run
the post office and the decision to allow other operators to compete in
areas previously run exclusively by Socma. It is also asking for the
contract for concession to be redrawn.
The new regulatory framework, which will be officially announced next
Wednesday, has been drawn up by the CNC, the communications regulatory body,
and the communications secretariat, under the direction of Carlos Winograd,
secretary for the defence of competition.
