DHL Germany expands its Packstations network

DHL Germany plans to install 100 additional Packstations at Esso petrol stations by the end of 2009.

The extended partnership with Esso will increase the total number of parcel points at the petrol stations to 175, considerably strengthening DHL’s area coverage. As the first petrol station partnering with DHL, Esso has already tested consumer acceptance of DHL Packstations at its 75 locations in Germany this year.

More than one million customers have so far registered for the Packstations service thus confirming the rising demand for comfortable and time-independent solutions to ship and collect parcels. Customers can use Packstations 24 hours a day, thus profiting from their excellent accessibility.

“The Packstations services at Esso petrol stations have become so popular that we decided to further extend our cooperation. With a total of 175 Packstations at Esso, our customers will have access to a total of 2,500 locations nationwide by the end of 2009,” explained Jürgen Gerdes, Member of the Board at Deutsche Post, responsible for Mail and DHL Parcel Germany.

Many Esso locations operate round the clock. “For car drivers, the combination of a petrol station and Packstations is especially appealing,” emphasized Christian Schell, responsible for the cooperation with DHL at Esso. “The customer can park directly in front of the Packstation, drop-off or collect the parcel and if necessary, contact helpful Esso staff for advice.”
