Slight price decrease at Swiss Post

Swiss Post is adjusting its prices for various letters as of 1 July.

Swiss Post is adjusting its prices for various letters as of 1 July.

The main measures involve making all letters subject to VAT and thus introducing a comprehensive price reduction for most business customers.

Prices for domestic A and B Mail standard letters will remain unchanged for private customers but will include VAT in future.

Prices for large letters will be up to 20% lower, and there will be fewer different letter prices. Bulk mailings and registered letters will also be less expensive.

The adjustment of parcel prices and prices for international consignments, originally planned for 1 April 2009, will only be implemented on 1 April 2010.
These measures have still to be confirmed by the Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication and will result in price advantages for Swiss Post customers amounting to around CHF200m.
