Up to 193 DHL Exel Supply Chain employees could face redundancy, following the plan by Marks & Spencer (M&S) to close its Exeter Distribution Centre (DC).

Up to 193 DHL Exel Supply Chain employees could face redundancy, following the plan by Marks & Spencer (M&S) to close its Exeter Distribution Centre (DC).

M&S has proposed to cease operations at its Exeter DC, which is run by DHL, from 29 March, with operations being transferred to Swindon by 31 August.

The logistics firm was unable to say how many of the 193 affected staff were drivers, but a company statement says: “Warehousing operations will be transferred to Wincanton and affected staff will be protected under TUPE regulations. DHL will continue to handle transport operations.”

DHL says it is in consultation with its employees and their elected union representatives about the proposed relocation.
