La Poste Chairman determined to transform the service

Martin Vial, who was appointed chairman of the French post office (La Poste)
in December last year, is determined to transform the service. Over his past
three years as managing director, he has already implemented the 35 hour
week and formed an internet strategy.
Mr Vial’s stated aim involves four “major challenges”:
internationalisation, European deregulation, extension of activities and the
integration of new technologies. If it fails to meet these challenges, he
says, it risks becoming a “mere local subcontractor” for its European
competitors.
