DFDS buys Lisco

The Danish carrier DFDS Tor Line is acquiring Lisco, which is headquartered
in Klaipeda in Lithuania, for approximately USD 50 million. This transaction
includes six ro/ro and ro/pax vessels which are operating on four routes
between Klaipeda and Mukran, Kiel, Aahus and Karlshamn. Moreover, the
Copenhagen-based carrier will buy six relatively new multipurpose lo/lo
units with a capacity of 225-350 TEU each, several subsidiaries within the
agency and terminal activities, as well as the headquarters in Klaipeda and
the name Lisco. Lisco’s tramp shipping activities with about 23 vessels are
not included. The government of Lithuania will continue to operate them
within a separate company. The necessary permits from the respective
authorities for the acquisition of Lisco by DFDS Tor Line are expected to be
granted before the end of June, including the Lithuanian competition
authorities.
