Jungheinrich extend deal with Nightfreight

Jungheinrich, the worldwide manufacturer of fork lift trucks and warehouse equipment, has renewed its three-year contract with Nightfreight, significantly extending its remit. As part of the new deal, Nightfreight will be responsible for the management of the complete inbound supply chain of new trucks from Jungheinrich’s manufacturing plants in Germany for the UK market in a move designed to improve tracking and visibility through the supply chain from factory to customer delivery.

For the past three years Nightfreight has been responsible for  operating all UK distribution providing Contract Management and support staff based at Jungheinrich’s Warrington site, who carry out other added value activity including product check and low level rectification of damage including painting and refinishing. The contract also includes delivery and collection of used equipment and the short term hire fleet to Jungheinrich’s UK customer base.

Steve Clarke at Jungheinrich, said: “Over the past three years Nightfreight has played a valuable role within our business. Their transport solution has helped us deliver a first class service to our customers and we believe our decision to extend Nightfreight’s activity to take control of the complete supply chain will show further improvements in cost management and customer service. Nightfreight has also been able to support our short-term rental business aspirations by delivering the “close to market” strategy that enables us to locate trucks local to the target market. In summary, Nightfreight has shown a willingness and ability to adapt to changes within our business and we see this co-operation developing further over the life of the new contract.”

Robbie Burns, chairman at Nightfreight, said: “We have proven that Nightfreight is a trusted partner who can provide support during periods of change and in challenging trading conditions. Providing an “end to end” logistics solution from Jungheinrich’s manufacturing plants is a logical next step following our successful UK contract operation.”
