Queensland strike hits Australia Post

About 2000 Queensland Australia Post workers will strike tomorrow (16 December) as part of a national industrial dispute which could cause major disruptions, reports couriermail.com.au. The article continues:

Another 2000 employees will take part in a 24-hour strike on Thursday (17 December) in their fight for a new workplace agreement which protects penalty shifts, rosters and take-home pay.

Communications Electrical Plumbing Union Queensland branch secretary Cameron Thiele said Queensland workers were taking part in national action to fight to protect their jobs and that mail delays were unavoidable .

“Our people are just fed up with bullying and intimidation in the workplace and they want an EBA (enterprise bargaining agreement) that protects them,” Thiele said.

The action comes as the CEPU announced yesterday (15 December) mail workers would be delivering unstamped mail posted in street boxes.
