British Securicor group acquired all shares in Deutsche Post Wert Logistik GmbH (DPWL)

On 1 July the British Securicor group acquired all shares in Deutsche Post
Wert Logistik GmbH (DPWL), a DP AG subsidiary. Details concerning the conditions of the deal were not disclosed. DPWL had in reality only operated as a sales company on the market, carrying out all orders via the German Bonn based Securicor Geld- und Wertdienste GmbH.
Apart from taking over the shares and operations the company will also change its name to Securicor Wert Logistik GmbH. With its approx. 50 branches and over 5,500 employees Securicor offers money and security transports as well as traditional security services, such as factory control, property and building protection. Last August 51% of the shares of the Kassel based company GWK specialising in security transports (1999 turnover: 61.3m euros, profit: 2.5m euros) were taken over by Securicor, which is one of this segment’s leading providers. According to the contract the remaining 49% are to be acquired by January 2002 (CEP News 26/00). Securicor says it paid the GWK proprietors Mr and Mrs Michel around 23m euros. Depending on the results for 2000 a further bonus payment may follow.
