Normal service to resume in Finland

Finnish operator Itella has said that mail deliveries in the country are returning to normal after a prolonged period of industrial action. A number of Finnish postal workers at the company have been on strike over pay.

A settlement was reached on Sunday concerning the collective labor agreement for the communication and logistics sector, which has ended the industrial action.

Most mail deliveries will return to normal throughout Finland this week.

There will be some regional differences in the delivery process returning to normal, but mail deliveries are expected to take place as usual throughout Finland by the end of the week.

A spokesman for Itella said: “The settlement also ensures that Christmas mail will be delivered as usual, which is important for many customers. Christmas mail, both cards and parcels, will be delivered according to the usual schedule in Finland and abroad.”
