Swiss Post backs digital training initiative

Swiss Post has come out in support of the ‘beesmart’ national initiative, established by Microsoft and backed by the Confederation, for the promotion of Switzerland’s digital economic area. beesmart is an Internet platform which encourages users to work productively with PCs and the Internet via a series of free online training modules.

It is intended to help young adults embark upon their professional career.

Swiss Post said it makes a contribution to secure electronic communication and also intends to offer beesmart internally in the foreseeable future.

The development of digital skills among many young people has been somewhat one-sided.

The ability to navigate online platforms is one thing. The frequent naive handling of personal data on the Internet and the correct use of office software are a different matter entirely. beesmart.ch has been introduced to close these gaps. Young people can now be trained independently on using office software and communicating safely.

The training platform comprises 72 learning modules in German and 52 in French. A didactically prepared learning tour comprising eight modules forms the core of the platform. A certificate can be printed upon successful completion of certain training units.

A Swiss Post spokesman said: “Swiss Post intends to make available practical content, among other things. The focus is on secure electronic communication, responsible handling of sensitive, personal data and protection against attacks via the Internet.

“As provider of the SuisseID digital passport, IncaMail electronic registered mail, its own digital payment solutions and the Swiss Post Box electronic letterbox, Swiss Post has a host of electronic core competencies to offer.”
