Swiss Post conducts delivery tests
Swiss Post has been carrying out pilot tests to examine new procedures and technologies in letter delivery.
The operator has been running the tests since the start of September in eastern and central Switzerland, and since October in western Switzerland.
The experience gained with automatic sequencing has been positive, the company said.
On the basis of the test results to date and customer feedback, in future mail will generally be delivered for all customers by no later than 12.30pm.
However, the changes to the planned rounds require time and will be carried out in the coming months.
As its earnings situation is currently favourable, Swiss Post has chosen to forgo the additional savings that a delivery cut-off time of 2pm would have generated.
In order to obtain findings about further automation and new processes, the tests will be continued for the time being.
