ORIGINAL TITLE: INDIA’S DELTAGRAM TO SETUP NETWORK OF DIGITAL POST OFFICES. FULLTEXT: NEW DELHI, Aug 14 Asia Pulse – Satellite messaging company Deltagram today
announced plans to set up a network of 25,000 Delta Digital Post Offices
connecting 150 cities by the end of the year 2001 and said it was scouting for
franchisees to be part of its network. “The services offered by Delta Digital Post Offices would go a long way in
providing a cost-effective and efficient communication facility to the
masses,” executive director of Deltagram, Na Vijayshankaran, said in a
statement. “The cost of our services are marginally higher than the current postal rates
for ordinary letters but lower than the speed post or courier services. A
voice post of one minute is priced at Rs 10 (US$0.21) while digital post of
one page will be offered for Rs 15,” he said. The company is also looking for nationwide franchisees who are interested in
being a part of Deltagram’s satellite communications network, he added. (PTI) Page n/a Copyright 2001 Asia Pulse Pte Ltd. (c) 2001 Resp. DB Svcs. All rts. reserv.
