Ad Scheepbouwer to resign as Chairman and CEO of TPG

Ad Scheepbouwer (57), Chairman and CEO of TPG N.V., has handed in his resignation to become Chairman and CEO of Royal KPN N.V.

The leading Mail, Express and Logistics company TPG has grown rapidly under Scheepbouwer’s leadership (see biography attached). Chairman of the Supervisory Board Morris Tabaksblat said: “We regret his decision, but we are confident that TPG will continue its successful path without him. We would like to thank Ad for his tremendous contribution and wish him success in this new job.”

Mr Scheepbouwer will stay on as Chairman and CEO of TPG until 1 January, 2002. The Supervisory Board of TPG will announce the name of his successor as soon as possible.

TPG N.V., with its two brands TNT and Royal PTT Post, is a global provider of mail, and express and logistics services. It employs approximately 135.000 people in 58 countries and serves over 200 countries. The company reported sales of EUR 9.9 billion in 2000 which have grown by 18.7% in the first half of 2001. TPG is publicly listed on the stock exchanges of Amsterdam, New York, London and Frankfurt.

KPN, the Dutch telecommunications company, on Monday confirmed the appointment of a new chief executive, whose first decision was to put off until January any move to restructure the debt-laden group.

Ad Scheepbouwer, currently chairman of TPG, the postal and logistics company, said he had halted all merger talks and ruled out divestments of key parts of the company this year.

Mr Scheepbouwer will officially replace Paul Smits by January 1 at the latest,
but is hoping to negotiate his exit from TPG sooner.
